Have now been awake since 6 o'clock. Not really that unusal for me, but I really thought that, today, I could have had a lie in.
That, of course , turned out to be wishful thinking.
There was that "switch" in the back of your mind that always reacte to an alarm - even when it ISN'T one of yours. It took a while to register, but I "heard" something a long way off. Something faint, something that was just there. But there was something.
The switch activated, bleary eyes opened and a muddled brain said "move"
After a 10 minute search it was a mobile phone alarm - set for the week for someone who didn't need to be up today (and didn't actually move for their own alarm).
