Morning all. Most of the people I know will be going, at the moment, "what the hell is he on about", but anyone working at the same place that I do will go -arh in soft tones. Well, I have just had a nosey on ebay to see how much they are going for on there. And what a shock I got - anyone would think these things were gold plated, not just an analogue (an obsolete analogue) tester. Used, several sellers are wanting between £60 and £160 on buy it now. I don't think that i will be buying one for myself at that price

What a nightmare - literally

The words "Who would have believed, in the last years of the Nineteenth Century, that Human affairs were being watched across the timeless gulf of space" in those haunting tones of the acting god that was Richard Burton, is still echoing thorough my tired mind. (apologies if the lyrics are not exactly on the mark). Anyone who knows me will know that the story of the War of the Worlds in its various forms is probibly my favourite of favourite stories. So, I suppose, that when I get a nightmare, it comes in a form I know

And a real nightmare it was. Aliens. Hidden terrors. Sudden and unexpected fears. Sudden and unexpected death!!

I know its accepted that nightmares are part of life. But they are supposed to fade on waking. And why now?

21:25 Well, that was a pleasant end to a busy weekend to celebrate Tilly's 16th.

 

Firstly, yesterday, was a small meal and a make-a-bear party for Tilly' and her mates. Sometimes loud. Sometime silly, always funny. And quite enjoyable.

 

And tonight a nice family meal to mark Tilly's birthday at the Ingram Arms. The cake was a nice touch, particularly the photo etched into the icing, Tilly used to be cute once LOL 

 

Thanks to everyone who came, and a belated Happy Birthday to Tilly.

What to do?

At least there's something to smile at ~ Look North have just showed a story of the tradition of Yorkshire Wassailing, dancing and singing to the apple trees, to make sure they get a good crop. Some looked embarrassed singing & dancing. Others taking a joyous full part and others looking somewhat cold O:-) :-D

Well that's another Monday at work, done and dusted. Wasn't sure that I would last the day, as the last few days have been tiring - and thats keeping it simple.

Mum's not well either, another things to fight against. The house is emtpy at the moment, and I'm not really sure whats happening, one way or the other. Never mind, tomorrow another day.

Am sat having 5minutes after work. Watching BBC2 which is showing an antiques/ auction show called Road Trip. Charles Hanson has just sold a 60 quid table and 6 chairs for a profit of £200+ at auction. Wish I could do THAT!!email

I used to send some time painting, usually with Watercolours. I thought that I would track my progress to completion.

The snag?

I have got to drawing the base line image, and thats about all. And, going on the last try, completion my be some weeks off :-D

Tidy time

Am struggling a bit with Facebook (but not, seemingly, any of my other sites). Every time I use a remote posting system, I get a double posting in Facebook, but the entries are several HOURS apart (usual 5-6). Don't get it

M&S

Have just realised I may have eaten my last product from a local M&S store (now closed)

And I made it into toast - the product being a loaf of bread.

There are tins of best quality M&S Curries, but they are not for me (never have been) as I don't really like curry, so that maybe it.

Well, that's the first real days work done in 2011. Have to say, nothing out of the ordinary. A couple of broadband faults and a line fault - nothing overly taxing. A steady start for the new yearemail

A Gentle Start to Sunday

Here I am, awake early on a sunday watching one of my all time favourite films, "The Adventures of Robin Hood" starring Errol Flynn.

It's just the way the old style of the film is flamboyant, over the top, lacking in a certain level of historical realism.. But a damned good thigh slapping yarn for all that.

The fact that there are "Bows and Arrows" involved may have a little to do with it too.
