What the …

At wits endWhat the hell am I doing?

I have been awake since around 4:50 a.m. I’ve tired a drink. I’ve moved to the settee so I’m not bothering Cathy. Have put the TV on – quiet. But, as you can see, nothing seemed to have worked. I guess it will be cat maps At wits endwhilst “Homes Under the Hammer” is on.

I’m a bit happier this morning

WinkAfter taking a deep breath (with one of those small “swearing” under your breath moments) and started again with trying to get things to work.

Anyway I've got (I think!) most of the Beta version of Office working and I’ll leave that be for now. Having used Sky+ to watch NCIS Los Angeles – I’m now watching the Celebration of The Carpenters that was ITV a couple of weeks ago. I’ve always liked the Carpenters, ever since I was small. I can imagine some of the comments coming my way , smile_wink , but I don’t really care. The songs where “gentle”, meaningful, soulful. It’s just a shame what happened to Karen – I suppose some people where never really made for fame. It’s sad to see how show business can end up destroying good people.

What a pain

This is an absolute pain in “bottom”. I nearly said that I had made a mistake but that would be, possibly, unfair. I downloaded, via an invitation, the beta version of Office 2010.

The good side – there are many to be honest. in the main, it works. Word, Excel, Publisher and the like pretty good. Nothing much more than we already have, to be blunt. But it works, it does its job.

The Ribbon toolbar has gone, which suits me to a tee. The whole thing is a lot cleaner, better looking. But then comes the negative …

Outlook – it had to be Outlook. The main connection with the digital world. It was just so problematic. Plug-ins didn’t work (Of course they didn't !!) so we disabled them. Makes no difference. The send / receive cycle won’t complete. Googled a possible solution – that didn’t work either. Maybe I was a bit quick, but off came the beta version and, as it turned out, vainly tried to roll back to the original version  of office that I had.

Again, Outlook still doesn’t work. back to Googling a result, and I’m still trying. And failing. I have even tried using an alternative E.Mail client, and that beggar doesn't want to work properly either.

I give up.

I’ll do a few chores first, and then have another go. I wish I hadn’t bothered

Update – yet another week goes by…..

What a shame, another week goes by and nothing much, locally, has changed. Its getting that bad, I’ve ended up spending most of the morning watching the Crime and Investigation Channel. All because I'm fed-up with watching the normal Daytime TV fayre (which is dire to start with).

The plan for today is really really simple. Having already dropped Liam off at College (we must really get him a Car!!) and Cathy at work, I’m going, shortly, to pick up a prescription from the Doctors. Tilly’s already been to the Doctors, on the “long way” round to school , for additional Blood tests – results next week. She’s still not really right after getting over some form of viral infection. But what do I know, I (normally!!) climb  poles.

When I get home there are a few little chores to do (suitable for a potential cripple least ways) and then it’s probably back to doing very little.

Once again the British weather has turned parts of the UK into a disaster zone – just in time for Christmas. As you can see to the left of this missive (please click to see larger version) the North West corner of Britain, Cumbria and the like, has taken a major battering with upto 3 months rain in one day. And all that water falling, in some cases, in areas where the ground is already saturated, and rivers full.

There are even reports of a Police Office missing after a bridge collapsed. I really hope they find him safe. I really feel sorry for all those who are effected. And, at a certain level, relieved that, at the moment, it is not us.

Anyway jobs to do and TV to ignore ……… when I come back , I think I may just turn on the Radio – or even my iPod

Morning Everyone – Morning, but I won’t say Good

Share this post :

Just a quick morning message. I’ve just noticed, as a quick aside, that I tend to send most of my missives in the morning – does that mean I get thicker during the day?

Anyway, as I type I can look out of our main Front Room Window and it’s horrible. It’s Wet. It’s Windy, very Windy and today is the day that Cathy, my wife, has to go to a funeral. With weather like this I’m really really glad that I don’t have to go to work today.
