Poor Dougal
There is something crashing its way round the spin cycle of the washing machine and Dougal is stood in the kitchen staring at that strange, odd sound.
He really doesn't like it. He looks to the noise, then he looks at me with those sad “protect me” eyes. The machine has just slowed down and you could almost see Dougie gulp, take a deep breath and rush past the machine and on into the hall. And I thought there was not much that could really bother my puppy
What the???
Am watching the preliminary competition's for the Worlds Strongest Man.
These people are built like “brick bogs”, usually with a stomach that would have a dietician having a quiet heart attack.
How's it work?? I would have a problem lifting the strap, and they are lifting half a city
Tired, so very tired
Will be so pleased when tomorrow has come and gone.
Not only will it be the weekend, and not only is tomorrows shift “an extra” but, at least in theory, I don't have to wake up early for a day or two (even though we all know what will really happen)
Am about to give up on the computer (and everything else) for tonight. The eyes are closing. Concentration is none existent.
Time to call it a day – an early NITE NITE to everyone

Strange Sleep
Woke up at around 2 after fighting off hoards of intelligent, monster Ants ( or were they evil grapes with legs?). Woke up once again around 4 after once again fighting off millions of flesh eating cockroaches. And then, finally, and most frighteningly is shoot bolt upright, around 6, thinking I had slept through, missing getting up for work. And it's Monday!! Then I realised, it is Monday. Have a good day everyone

Coffee break and re-think required
That was surprise!!!
Thank you Microsoft ....
For the second day running I have had to use system restore to remove the latest windows update on the main computer to get on the Internet on that machine ( it uses an Ethernet cable as opposed to wireless ).
Should have known something would happen because, since updates day last Tuesday we have been getting no Internet reports at work - and it has been passed by the god like ones above us that some XP and Windows 7 users have got this update that causes the virus guard program's to block Internet access - great!!

The British weather
At least the weather is never boring
A Quiet House ....
Maybe that is why I feel I need a radio or tv to be playing away in the background, even though I know I probably won't be taking much notice of it.
Maybe I just don't like the silence

Yeah, I guess ....
I guess I should be pleased that, should I survive work today, it is a Bank Holiday weekend - three days off
But I just can't get that excited. Am tired and achy. The eyes refuse to work again. It's cool, it's dull and the days are getting shorter, the nights longer. I'm sure I will feel more positive later, i really should stop mentioning my thoughts straight after waking up ...

Soz ....
So good morning to you all. And I hope you all have a dry, safe and productive day - "have a good 'un"
Another busy morning .....
I really am getting to be a stubborn old git.
As my alarm went off I could hear the shower running and, when I moved enough to crawl to the bathroom I hear cupboard doors bang and the cups and plates clatter in the kitchen.
Can even hear Cathy being "woken up" by Dougie . I really need to find a way of latching that door that he can't open!!

Tired and not a little fed up at the moment...

Am guessing I should be pleased its Friday, but I'm not.
Have just woken up.
My eyes are blurry and sore.
My back and leg ache because I slept "funny".
And there is a dog snoring loudly on the landing and I still have to survive 8 hours at work. Feeling Grumpy just doesn't cover it. Tomorrow should be a lie in day, but I bet that won't happen either.
Guess its time to slope off mumbling further to myself and put the kettle on.

I really give up now, have had enough. We have people in hospital. Tilly's had tonsillitis for most of the week, and, of course, I once again wake up with "concrete nose syndrome " Not only that, but then I go back to sleep for another THREE hours. I know there are a lot of people with coughs, cold and viral infections at the moment , but as I have said, I have had enough of this.

What I should be doing..
• Finishing up the bills.
• Finishing up my “Follow up” messages
• Clean the house
• Iron
What I am Doing ….
• Am pointlessly searching the internet for nothing in particular
• Aimlessly looking at my camera thinking “charge the battery idiot”
• Meandering around sorting the pile of information I have about Archery and Airguns
• IPadding (even when the computer is on)
• Looking out the window at the rain, staring
• Moaning to myself about tripping over Puppies Bone pile,, but doing nothing about it
I know the weather is bad, but really. Was sat at the computer when I hear, firstly a strange "cackle" from the kitchen, followed by the rushing foot steps of a rather large puppy on the Hallway floor. I get there to see a Jackdaw, in the kitchen doorway looking in. Dougie soon saw to the Jackdaw leaving, but I have never seen that type of bird, nearly in the kitchen. Was it trying to get out the rain??

What the .....
Caring person that I am, I spent my own lunch break shopping for some Puppy Food. Having brought him some more tins, biscuits, a larger water dish and an ace "fighting" pull rope, I noticed the shop was selling cow bones for dogs to chew on. Looking at the bag size I thought there would be two or three bits - that would be a good buy. Get home and Dougie like the alternate food, and the rope. Looking down at the state of his old bone, I though ideal time to open the bag.
Yeah gods, instead of two three bits, it looks like a single side of cow. Massive.
No wonder Dougal circled it severals times before he tried to move it

Monaco GP 1955 Just shows how things have changed. Sky have just shown a piece about the Monaco GP in 1955. And it just shows you how things have changed. Sandbags on the corners and walls "to protect the drivers" A number of boats out in the bay, one being used to pick up Ascari as he swims away from his car as it flew into the water, and then to the bottom of the harbour. Thin tyres and proper racing - just shows how things have been sterilised to some extent.
Ouch!!!
That might have knackered things - nodded off on the settee. Wakeup to find the puppy is using me as a cushion - cute! Less cute is the fact I'm struggling to bend my back, and I have a pain running through my lower back and into the top of my right (now Twitching) leg. Need to find that list of recommended exercises
That's funny
Puppy, sat on the settee (and Cathy will do her nut!!) looks up as I wander through to the kitchen as an urgent coffee refill is required. The nose appears around the door, followed by those puppy dog eyes. Dougal stands for a few moments and then looks.
You can see the thoughts now going through a Puppy mind, and he walks straight over to the bread loaf on the kitchen table - pointing straight to it.
I'm guessing puppy wants toast!
It's Saturday
Morning everyone - ITS THE WEEK END!! YEAH.
Mores the pity, the weather forecast is for more rain. Then rain and possibly more rain. At least I have the chance to draw a couple of pictures this week, that's something I haven't done in a while. Mind you, all it odes is remind me to finish the watercolours I started last year!
Have a good weekend everyone.

... To all the iPad 2's?
Now the world is slowly being infested with the iPad 3, obviously a greatly inflated prices, as is normal for any Apple product, what has happened to all the iPad 2's?
Do Apple "recover" them, forcing people to buy the latest incarnation, or has something else happened to them. Donated to orphans? Sent to the third world to help delevop local skills ? Am questing I already know.
If anyone from Apple, or one of their suppliers is out there, I will give you some cash for a couple of the old versions. Justntontake them off their hands you understand.

I am still shell shocked after the world wind of activity that made up the main part of my Monday morning.
The Window Fitters managed to fit, effectively, 18 windows and 2 doors in less than 12 hours (9.5 to be exact) Fair enough, 10 of the windows where those involved in the two bays, but even so, impressed.
It just today we have to put back curtain rails, blinds and the like . We already have a couple of trailers full to go down to the skip and then we can start on all the other going jobs 😉
Never mind, well happy with the work done yesterday - oh we'll, time for my first coffee and then away we go!!

Good morning everyone and welcome to Thursday - yeah!! Nearly Friday and the weekend!!
What a morning to wake up to. As I stand making breakfast, or looking out of the Front Room window staring down the street. The whole of my real world has vanished into the mists of a foggy morning. Once in a while a wispy wraith walks passed in the mist and the murk. Am not really looking forward to filling my van, let alone travelling out to where my jobs will be. It's already cold and damp.
Luckily, the mist is only due to stay till mid morning. The, smiles all round. Have a safe day everyone.

What the hell is it with Road Works?
I know we British are preoccupied with the damned things. And that they are, in some cases least ways , necessary. But what is it with this year - there have been, seemingly, so many more than normal.
I have just travelled around 12 miles and encountered 3 sets of roadworks. One set, which is a long term set, is following the route of a long term set of roadworks ( for another utility) that only finished a month or so ago.
It just drives you nuts!!

There are so many things that need doing.
I, as usual, haven't got a clue what to do first.
Am guessing that a Supermarket visit is the most important .
Nothing to eat sort of focuses the mind. But it will be a puppy walk first, then fill the washer. Try and finish the bills, run round after my own tail. Ironing. Staring into the wild blue yonder wondering.
Told you I had plenty to do ;0)

Am not looking forward to today
Morning all, it Saturday, I'm at work, and I'm not looking forward to it.
Saturdays have never been my most favourite work day, seeing that there is so much more I could be doing. Nothing (like nothing!!). Walking the dog. Archery. You get the drift.
But work it has to be. It's just, because all the other departments have a weekend, or at least a skeleton staff at best, everything we do is just that much harder to achieve. Never mind, I guess it something that I have gotten used to over time.
But I still don't like working Saturdays .

Nuts
#mine Have just had the Puppy doing his nut, he really doesn't like the Hoover at all. While it was running, he was jumping all over the hose, attacking the carpet head and the then the end of the hose, after that noise. I knew he wasn't keen on the sweeping brush, but this really took the biscuit.
emailSort of hate days off. Not the fact that your not at work, of course, that is always an advantage ;0), but the fact I don't feel like doing anything at the moment.I know I have a list of jobs as long as your arm, and am not sure where to start. And there isn't really "a beginning" it is just one of those lists that vanishes over the horizon.

Tired, so tired
Am now feeling so,so tired. Have slept well, other than waking up at work time on my day off, bit that's really nothing new. Had a fairly successful day yesterday.
But started off the day feeling tired, and it's not going to get any better, or so it seems. Have just come back from the Gym, the first visit in several months and, instead of feeling invigorated , I have just come back feeling deflated and disappointed. This morning has just reminded me how much progress I was making, and how much effort has now been wasted and the amount of work now needed just to get back to where I was.
And, I'm off the the dentist!!
Perfect!

Morning all, welcome to our bin day. Not that you can see the drive and pavement round here still. I wake up cold, tired and achy . Nothing that unusual, but it seems all the good feelings from Jersey have nearly all evaporated away. Even considering thoughts of going to the gym. Mind you, it would appear that may have to be through several more inches of snow. Oh Goody!!
Wednesday, February 08, 2012
Morning all, it's mid week and it's still ugh! Small smile, puppy's dogs mission this morning is to climb on as many pieces of banned furniture that he can get away with. At the minute he's "waking" up mum by jumping all over the bed (which he's banned off) and trying to lick her face ( which she hates) . Don't you just love a dog that does what it's told?

Nice
Well that was fun!! Just been working at a roadside box, over looking the Motorway, for the last 3 hours. God it was cold. Daftest thing was you could watch the fog make its slow way across the bridge.
Morning All, and welcome to a cold, icy Monday. Pleased to have got back safe from Jersey, although the Motorways were dodgy, especially the Fog - nasty. Well I can tell I'm back, had a strange dream for the first time in a week, not that you ever remember much. And it's just about time to go to work - be safe everyone
Did I need this?
Well that was sort of strange. A visit to the loo concluded with an odd conversation with the attendant about the amount of toilet paper people seem to use at airports. Am guessing that I didn't really want to know!!!
Sunday 5th Feb. 2012 - Sad, I know, but am sat here, in Jersey Airport Departures waiting for checkin to open for the flight back to the snow. It has to be said, as It's still winter, the Jersey we had seen in past summmers was still "closed for the Winter " That said, we had a chilled, pressure free few days. The pity being the stress will begin again in the next few hours as we try to make our way home from Liverpool Airport. It has been quite nice to not be available. The phone has been trimmed down, temporarily, to its basic functions - no emails, no alerts and no pointless looking (cheapskate that I am,I wont pay a premium for going off the UK mainland) . Could still Facebook off the laptop, but only from the hotel room. And only when we could be bothered. Yes a nice calm few days all round.

Had a very steady day today _ and no one is the worse for that. Nearly tea time, but waiting for Cathy to come back from swimming. While What a strange last few hours. We found a nice little pub, last night, for tea. Opposite sat a man who looked, and sounded, a little like James May. Pity he wasn't that entertaining. We have come to realise there is not much open this early in the year here in Jersey - no real surprise I guess. Am suspecting that today may well be a lazy, lazy day. Will have to see what develops across the rest of the day. While I'm waiting, I'm "forced" to watch the Rugby - life's hard!

Well that's the first day light part of the Jersey visit. Have spent a very nice afternoon at the Durrell Collection. Sun was out, although slightly chilly. Most of the animals had more sense than us, they stayed in the warm. Am having the achieve a strange compromise with regards the internet - can't use my phone (because to the cost) and the hotel "wireless" is actually hard-wired. But that a small inconvenience.

Morning all, and big thanks to the puppy for an early morning "present".
He has also found away over the kitchen baby gate - nuts!
We are two - thirds ready for my birthday trip. Its time for the kids to baby sit the dog (or will it be the other way round) .
Puppy is getting a long term cuddle while I wake up myself. Am a bit concerned about weather though. Looks like we picked the coldest weekend to go away. We will see.
Have a good safe weekend everyone

Big ouch!
Now I'm seriously not a happy bunny. Have just had to retire from shooting due to the arm starting to twitch. At least Lauras doing ok. Annoyed, annoyed, annoyed!!!!
Ouch!
Moving slowly into mardy territory. After shooting pretty well (for me) this morning, this afternoon is started off as a bit of a disaster. A couple of early misses and sore back and muscles is not making for a happy Archer. In fact, quite the reverse!!
Here we go ..
Cars packed and ready. The Puppy has picked up, and eaten, the boiled eggs that fell out of the fridge. It is time to leave and head over to Trackside for a Vegas Indoor shoot. Which should be good, cause in all these years of attending Archery Competitions, neither myself or Laura have ever shot this round. Should be interesting!!
Nice!
what a nice afternoon to shoot some arrows. OK we are not talking red hot. Of course not. But the wind is slight, the sun is bright, there are few clouds to spoil the view. So its shades on (with prescription lenses) and the old wooden bow and wooden arrows. What more can you say?
Tired and a bit fed up
Really should stop whining, but it does give me something to do. Really should get a Doctors appointment to check out my back, but I haven't . Should get the dog to the vet, seeing as he seemed to have taken a fancy to chewing the top of his leg. But that shouldn't be to difficult. And now, I'm trying to decide whether I should have some breakfast or not, as I seem to be having a bit of an IBS pain episode. And both solutions seem to help and hinder this situation in equal measure. Of stuff it, drop Laura off at college and reactive the coffee making devices!!

Morning everyone, and welcome to another Monday, and yet another week. It's obviously going to be a cold one, but it is winter after all. Have just realised that I haven't turned the "big" computer one in nearly four days. With everyone having access to phones, laptops and tablets of various flavours , there has been no need to power up the original computer. Maybe that just shows how things have changed in the just the last 6 months. Have a safe one everyone.
Well, came back from the archery competition yesterday as sore as hell. But, for all that, also quietly please and happy. Best of all Laura won her category, and we were point to point for the morning in " Dad & Daugther" competition . Even after having give up late in the afternoon ( for everyone else's safety - a twitching arm and a man with a bow and arrow - not good) I still did enough to come second. Really wasn't expecting that!

What is the fascination with the Titanic
Morning all, am just getting ready to walk the dog, pondering the following. With the club Archery sessions this afternoon, do I take my Compound and cram in some last minute practice? Or, which is probably more realistic, should I just take my longbow/flat bow / BareBow . Enjoy the afternoon and coach some of the newbies who will be there? Am guessing I know the answer as I type.

Typical
How dare they spoil my pointless daytime viewing. Damn the BBC for swapping Bargain Hunt for the Tennis. It's only a Scotsman after all ;0)
Had to force myself to watch this epic struggle. Just for evidence should I wish to write in and complain, you understand.
emailA new Bow sight
I really should stop using eBay, but it is far to useful. As my family and Archery colleagues are aware, I am NOT a one bow man. And, in those numerous bows I have two Compound bows, one newly purchased and the other an eBay special. The eBay Hoyt was intended as a Field Bow and originally had a multi - pin sight on it. However hard I tried with this type of sight, it just didn't seem to suit me. Anyway, Wednesday morning saw the eventual arrival (delayed thanks to UK Customs sticking another charge on top), of a sinmgle pin, adjustable sight form the US. Not an expensive item compared to the sights you buy from the big players in the market, but it seemed decent enough. I didnt realise how good though until it was fitted and ready to go.
The indoor session on Wednesday night was really meant to be practice ready for the Vegus Round on Sunday. But, with half an hour of the session to go I thought "what the hell" and got the Field Bow, and its new sight out to play with.
Impressed didn't cover it. With just a couple of minor adjustments, the whole thing was on the money. Not just hitting the centre Golds (X's - yeah) but also taking out the centre images of a pile of playing cards.
Must remember to give positive feedback for this sight on eBay.
emailHummmm
Another hummmm thought. Am typing this message on my BlackBerry, but, on some of the web browser pages it is difficult to see and use that website. So I'm wondering - do I stay with blackberry? (and move over to the torch version) of should I take the iphone option? Is there something androidy that I could move over to? Or is it the curse of any mobile phone, that the screen is small and not that easy to use?
Cold!!
Its the middle of the day, and its wet. Its damp. And its cold! And guess who's just got an out side job. Now, where's my big, thick coat?
Thanks for nothing!
An open to message to the Drunken Fool (or fools) who think its funny to damage private property - to wit, tying knots with our windscreen wipers. If you would be so kind as to leave £100 in way of repairs and compensation it would be much appreciated. IDIOT!!!
Wow!!
This is going to sound so twee, but there you go. I knew kids could grow quickly, but puppy's take the biscuit. When we first got him, he couldn't see over the seat of the chair, let alone the table top. Only last week he had to use the chair, and full body stretch, to just see the table. Now, the nose has appeared above the level of the table without any effort - Oh Dear!!
Morning
Morning all, and welcome to a wet cold Friday. Not really a lot else to say. Have a safe, dry day.

I must be mad! It's almost bad enough to have to get up at all for work on a Saturday, but to wake up, yet again, far to early to be good for you. Then to be met by an over excited puppy really isnt what I need when I'm still trying to work out which part of my body is still not working.
The eyes barely work. The back aches and the state of the house is driving me mental.
I'm going to be a grumpy git all day.

Well what happened there? Came in late-ish from work last night. Logged off, had tea. Got bits ready for Archery, sat on the bed for 5 minutes and, bar one toilet visit, woke up 12 hours later. Ouch!!

Morning all - have just been watching the story that Muhammad Ali, probably the worlds greatest boxer, is 70 years old today. Although a shadow of the character he used to be, he still has that ability to draw people to him and listen . Always been saddened that his illness has always been suffered in public, but I guess that is his, and the families wish. Have a safe day everyone.
Woops
That didn't help.
Come in. Book off from work and then sort of nod off.
Vain attempt to catch up by taking the dog for a walk and then type some letters and upload some photos.
Out into the cold and see youy later.

Thank you Scunthorpe running club. Was coaxing the Puppy towards Central Park until, as he sat to observe (which he seems to do every 10 Yards), a gaggle of your runners came haring past on the park side of the road. One 360 latter, puppy was on his way home. Have to say, it was not big surprise that he was looking for a way to head back to home - humans taking him out for a walk. In the cold. Still learning aren't you puppy?

Some of us want a new house, a new car, a new mobile phone, worry about weight and looks, but someone that's battling cancer wants just one thing, to win the battle. 97% of my friends won't re-post this, but 3% will. Let's see who does. Please re-post this in honour of someone who lost their battle, or for someone fighting it x

I sometime wonder what the puppy see's or hear's that we totally miss? Just finishing up my breakfast and puppy's been cuddled and fusted and he wandered off to his bed. All of a sudden he come running through to the lounge, glaring at the window. He cocks his head to one side, huffs and snuffs. Barks twice and, having made his point turns round and goes back to the kitchen. Me? I saw nothing

Well that's a first
I know this may sound really pathetic, but I have, for the first time , actually managed to take the dog for a walk single handed. Admittedly it took some bribery to start with, but once we were clear of the street it took bribery to get him home again.

Have just glanced in the mirror at what is a rather plain, aged and somewhat weather worn face. At the moment it is sporting three days worth of stubble. For a few short moments there was the thought "I won't shave this week", to quickly be followed by that itch that confirms it will all be in the sink in the morning. Back to a bare faced Mr Plain!
Ouch
My heads still ringing. When getting coats on in a rather tight hallway (space even more restricted by a bouncing puppy) Liam elbows me in the temple. Can't see stars though - can't afford them on my wages!!

Have not long since come back from Archery, with the little Devil whispering " see how fast your new car goes . Go faster" After a short argument , the nice law abiding side kept to 70. Just to see the most, tatty, rusty heap of c@!p, never deviating out of lane 3, from one horizon to the other, come tearing past doing at least 100. Was I tempted to chase? What do you think?
