Life is full of Evil...

This is just going to be a quick posting, and, sadly, it just shows that Human kind can be the most evil of beasts.

Girl, 14, dies in 'random attack' Police hunt the "evil" killers of an innocent 14-year-old girl shot dead as she walked home from a funfair. [via BBC News | News Front Page | UK Edition]

This was on the news last night (and also this morning). There doesn't seem, at the moment, to be any reason why anyone would pick on this poor girl. As far as the story goes, the poor lass was only a few yards form home, after spending an evening at the Nottingham goose fair with her friends. Why?

Ken Bigley killed: Your reaction A day of mourning has been declared on Saturday in the home city of British hostage Ken Bigley who was killed by his captors in Iraq. Send us your comments. [via BBC News | News Front Page | UK Edition]

Confusion around Bigley 'escape' Confusion still surrounds reports hostage Ken Bigley tried to flee his captors shortly before he was beheaded. [via BBC News | News Front Page | UK Edition]

One can only have sympathy for the Bigley family. they have dealt with all that has been thrust at them with a dignity that i find astonishing. They have been succinct, polite and to the point. And then, for the whole affair to end this way, can only be described as barbaric and cruel. It would appear that one of his captors tried to help him escape, although, as I  type this, this is still to be confirmed one way or another.I know it would always be a risk for anyone who went to work in Iraq, but, as was pointed out time after time, Mr Bigley went there to help the ordinary populous. You also have to feel sorry for those ordinary Iraqis, all the want is the same as most other people in the world - peace and quiet so they can just make a few bob, and get on with their own lives in safety.

But I can't see that happening for a while.

Instant fines for firework misuse On-the-spot £80 fines come into force to tackle the misuse of fireworks ahead of 5 November. [via BBC News | UK | UK Edition]

Fireworks Night, here in the UK , is only a few weeks away. When " I were a Lad", the only fireworks you would hear where solely on 5th November, and maybe, some specific celebration. over the intervening years this has expanded out to New Year, Chinese New Year and few other times of year. If it's a valid celebration - I'm fine with that. but, what we do have now are idiots letting off Fireworks, playing with fireworks, terrorizing with Fireworks. And its about time something "proper" was done about the situation.

Will an £80 "penalty" make much difference?

Having seen some of these lunatics in action - i doubt it - but we'll see.

I know this is a bit of a "dark" posting, but I'm feeling a bit dark at the moment. It just seems to be one of those times, when the news is all bad, and that is just plain sad.

This has been the first time that I felt "safe" typing, after the pain and discomfort of the trapped nerve.

The honest thing is my arm/hand still feels "ODD". I have feeling in my fingers (unlike three weeks ago) but it feels tired at the moment. I suspect thats possibly just because i haven't used it fully for two weeks - and I'm just unfit, as such.

Well, in the mean time, we have received our new computer - YIPHEEEEEEEEEEE.

This is one of these "Encouragement" packages via the Government and a number of Businesses and Local Authorities. The idea is to encourage more people to have a computer in their home, at an affordable cost.

To cut the explanation short, you pay for the computer directly out of your wages, and as part of that, you get some of the money back as a cut in your Income Tax (and I'm all in favour of that)

The machine we have has come via BTHomecomputing and Hewlett Packard (HP) (we have the t685uk model). this model is supposed to be created with Photo manipulation in mind. That said it plays games lovely - it makes our old computer look like an Eighties Pocket Calculator. the new machine is absolutely FAB.

And the real "shocker" is how good the Screen is.

No longer a CRT screen.

A 17" LCD screen. The image is so much more than what we are used to. the image is clearer, brighter, sharper. We've had this computer now for nearly a week and I'm still in awe of the screen, the whole machine.

I know, in the coming weeks and months we will probably "get used to it", but now, I just can't leave the damned thing alone.

Boy I'm so happy.
