God, I really hate Pavlovian body responses.
Having spent most of the night trying to sleep in an area of bed no bigger than a small flannel (Dougal, having spent most of the night either barking at the Fireworks, and then, barking at the stranger that appeared at the door a short time later - or Laura as most of us know her)
Having once again, then managed to sort of get back to sleep, my mind then convinced me that there was aloud wrapping, crashing, knockingat the front door.
I shot out of bed, all but ran down the stairs, and unlocked the door to find NOTHING!!
The drive was empty, as was the street.
Can I now get back to sleep, of course I can't.
TV and iPlayer now pressed into service, with, no doubt a session of nodding off on the back room settee.
Thanks New Year, what a start.
